Two of our enthusiastic regulars to the recent Monday night training workshop & turbo sessions sent in their thoughts about how these went. Enjoy the following reports!
Jemma Bowler Reflects:
“Over the past few weeks I have gone to the Monday night workshop turbo sessions at Hillingdon. They were really hard and I took in a lot of information from them.
The workshops were all about racing preparation and nutrition. The turbo sessions were challenging as I came off red and out of breath with all of them.
Everyone’s turbo sessions were difficult, especially the last one because it was made by the coaches; however, it depends on how much effort you put into the session and so you can make it as hard as you want to!
I really enjoyed the evenings and hopefully we can do them again.”
Anastasia Vockic’s Retrospective:
“On the last workshop we had a guest from British Cycling that took over the workshop. We were taught about the key essentials in a race kit bag. We watched a BC video that really covered all the techniques of how to conquer the weather. The great help was when the coach showed us an already prepared kit. Then we were left to go and cycle. The turbo training was created by the coaches.
In my opinion the layout was new to most of us, so it was quite challenging. There was a mixture of sprints and a time trial. In conversations, many found the constant speed of the time trial difficult due to the time pyramids just before. In my opinion, compared to the individual group’s turbo sessions, the set session was much more effective than any of ours. People were working harder in the last one compared any of the other ones.
Overall, I think everyone enjoys the hard works as well as the friendly social surroundings. The atmosphere during the workshop and training is very comforting. However tiring, we all keep to the set programme. Those sessions work because there are friendly competitions that make us put 100% effort.”
Thank you for your wonderful reports Ladies!
