As part of the Slipstreamers 2015 Spring/Summer training and racing programme, the first of the 3 Coach led “Race Training” sessions will commence on Monday 30th March 2015 (sunset 19:30), followed by the remaining 2 sessions on Monday 6thApril (sunset 19:41) and Monday 13th April (sunset 19:53).
What Will I Learn?
This will be a series of 3 x 90 minute sessions that will look at racing safety, etiquette and tactics. Coaches will be on hand to explain the race etiquette necessary to ride safely at Hillingdon Cycle Circuit. There will be some race scenarios to practice, possibly in teams (dependent on numbers) and will have equal measures of coaching and training.
Who May Attend?
These sessions are intended for ALL youth riders, not just Slipstreamers Members, aged between 7 and 16 wishing to ride the Monday night Summer Series. These exercises will allow riders from other clubs as well as Slipstreamers to become familiar with Hillingdon Cycle Circuit in a race scenario. We are hoping that riders from other clubs will attend, and you will all get to ride safely and get to know riders you will be racing against later.
Do I Need to Be a BC Member?
No. You don’t need to have British Cycling membership, nor do you require race license to participate.
How Do I Book?
No need to book – simply turn up.
What Time Do We Start?
The Clubhouse will be open from 17:30 for signing on, with the sessions starting promptly at 18:00. We will make use of available light to get the most out of the sessions. End time is around 19:30.
What is the Charge?
The cost is £5 per session.
Additional Information…
The Hillingdon Slipstreamers Summer Series starts on Monday 27th April. Watch the British Cycling Events list for more details on this.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with the races – judges, marshalls, admin, catering, and so on. Parents – if your child is racing, please spare us some of your time to ensure a successful event – we can’t do this without you!
