Rider Development Programme – 13th December Assessment Results

We are very pleased to announce the assessment passes who may now move to the next level in the development programme. Make sure you bring your passports to be signed off if you did not do so last weekend – if you have lost your passport, bring £1 for this to be replaced. Certificates will be given out this weekend, but if you are not around to collect them we will keep them until the end of January for you to collect after your next session. If you don’t have your certificate from the previous round of assessments, come and see us on Saturday as this will be your last chance to collect them – unfortunately we don’t have the space to keep uncollected certificates so they will be recycled from January! Do make sure you have yours – you have earned it!

A Few Notes from Your Coaches…

Bronze Groups: Both MTB and Circuit groups braved the cold and did brilliantly. Well done to all of you who participated in the assessments, and a special congratulations to those who move up a level.
Silver 1 Group: Congratulations to all of you. You rode strongly, looked like a group, and demonstrated strong and safe group riding and good technique.
Silver 2 Group: The overall standard was very good. At the beginning everyone was riding well – great group riding. It was however a very cold day and that tired a lot of riders early. Skills were really good, and coaches and riding helpers were all very happy with the standard. Rider fitness and mental toughness was tested by the cold weather, as a result many riders were forced to drop out. Dropping out is an automatic fail in assessment. Well done to everyone who finished. It was tough out there!

Well done everybody who took part – it was great to see you all riding so well. If you have not passed yet, do not despair and please do not give up – talk to the lead coaches for guidance and tips on where to improve. They are there to help you so please don’t be afraid to ask for feedback!

But What If I Missed My Assessment…?

If you missed your assessment because you were ill, or for any other reason, don’t despair! When you return to the club, let your group coach know that you missed the assessment, and discuss options with them directly. They are there to help YOU and really do appreciate your comments and feedback. Unfortunately, with us being such a busy club it is not always possible to arrange a special assessment for any one rider, especially as all our sessions are group sessions and not one-to-one for a number of reasons. However, at the discretion of the group lead Coaches, if it’s practical, and depending which group the rider is in, plus a number of other varying factors such as the size of the group and safety conditions, an assessment may be possible. To be clear, is not a guarantee and it is important to always talk to the coaches. If you have to wait for the next assessment to show how good you are, do heed the wise words of Head Coach Dave: “The pathway to good performance is a journey of hard work over months and years, not weeks!”

For future assessment dates, please refer to the calendar on the Clubhouse noticeboard, and keep an eye out in the newsletter for further announcements.
