Sign-on…
This will commence at 9am and close at 9.30am as normal, but you will find the sign on desk in the classroom and not the usual place – if you are new to the club and not sure where to go, follow the signs we’ll put up, or please just ask. There is NO payment required, but we do still need you to sign on for insurance reasons so do ensure you do this please. You won’t be allowed inside the clubhouse until 9.30am as the Chief Elf and his crew of helpers will be setting up, so make sure you are dressed warmly whilst you wait outside!
Awards Presentation…
We will start this promptly at 9.30am inside the main clubhouse, so make sure you are signed on by then. We have a very special guest to present the awards, and it would be very helpful if you all ensure our guest and each and every recipient is given the respect of your full attention during the presentations. And remember, it could be your name being called out so pay attention!
Fun & Games…
After the presentations, there will be plenty more to keep you entertained throughout the morning. There will be bike games which include MTB jumps behind the clubhouse; and on the circuit we’ll be running skills games; limbo, parallel rope & switch back challenges. Later in the morning there will be good old-fashioned tug-of-war challenges and sack races; and of course, the legendary Wrighty’s 10p game will also be played, so do remember to bring a few 10p coins with you – if this is your first Xmas party with us, it will all make sense on Saturday!
Do bring your mountain bikes along as these are generally best for all the games, but if you prefer, road bikes will be fine. Make sure you are wearing normal trainers – we don’t recommend cleats. Feel free to dress up your bike handlebars – remember safety first, so ensure no decorations will impair your bikes’ ability to handle safely (e.g. tinsel near the spokes or brakes!)!
Food, Glorious Food…
As usual, Mrs Claus and the North Pole Catering Crew will be laying out a delightfully nutritious spread of snacks, nibbles and moreish treats to quell ravenous appetites and to ensure there are no hunger-driven tantrums! Food will be served around 11.30am, so make sure you have a good breakfast to keep you going until then!
Santa Arrives…
No Xmas party would be complete without a visit from the jolly holly Mr Claus himself! Santa is taking his reindeer out for an early ride to Minet Park this weekend (shhh, don’t tell non-Slipstreamers!), and will be landing the sleigh around 11.50am. We have it on good authority that he will be bringing along a big red sack or two filled to the brim with presents, so do listen out for your name if you think you will be on his list!
Parents, be sure to read the footnote*** at the end of this newsletter to ensure Santa has included your child on his “list”…
