Early morning performance sessions were introduced at the start of 2015 for senior riders 12+ to get in some extra stamina, endurance and fitness training. This programme has been a great success, and we are now looking to open these sessions up to more members.
Effective Saturday 4th June 2016, all Club Members who are in their 2nd year Under 12 age category, i.e. were born in 2004, are invited to attend the early sessions during the Summer months. Please note that this will be on the basis of a trial period during these months, and at the Club’s discretion this may be restricted or extended further. We will, of course, keep you all informed.
For Members who have never attended an early performance session, you are welcome to do so and we would encourage this. Now that it’s getting warmer, there is no excuse to not enjoy a bright and crispy early Spring Saturday morning working out! The sessions are tailored to allow something for everyone, no matter what your skill level, and so if you are aged 12+ (and now including those born in 2004), and want to get in some extra training, come and join in. You don’t have to be a racer to take part and in fact, many of the riders who participate don’t race but do the early sessions to keep fit and get stronger, whilst others are mountain bikers who do it because it helps with speed training and endurance!
Convinced? If you are going to be joining the Early Birdies, note the following…
- Sign-on is from 8am – 8.25am. You only sign on once for the full session.
- You must be warmed up and ready to go BY 8:30 – feel free to bring your rollers, or ask the Coaching team if you can use the circuit to warm up. Plan for this.
- Bring spare clothing, food and drink – you will get a good workout, you will build up an appetite, and you will need hydration! Make sure you are dressed appropriately for the weather – layers are best.
- You will join the main session group after a recovery break around 9.45/ 10am.
And remember, the monthly Time Trial on the 2nd Saturday of each month is open to ALL Members of ALL ages.
