On a very wet and windy Sunday morning – 29th March – a number of Slipstreamers took to the circuit to combine their cycling and running skills in the Hillingdon Triathletes Duathlon.
First up were the U8’s, with Maddie Emment first home out of boys and girls – that’s HSS Silver 1 coaching paying off! U10 boys saw a full podium trifecta with William Roake 1st, James Brown 2nd, and Ben Bisson 3rd! Again, a testament to their cycling skills which were clearly on show! William said he “felt proud but it was hard work with the wind”. It was James’s first duathlon, and he said “I was very happy as I didn’t know how fast I could run after cycling hard.” Ben said ” I am happy too and it was great to share the podium with other Slipstreamers”.
The U12 race was won by Ben Taylor with Ollie Emment in 3rd. Ollie said “I was chuffed as it is my first year as an U12 and didn’t expect to do as well.” A big shout out to Pascal Giret who came 11th in the U12 race, having rode this race as he missed the start of his own age group!
In the U14 group Nathan George came a very respectable 7th, with Rohan Penney in 9th in what was a very tough race. Gabby Icmat and Sophie Peters worked very hard in the girls race to gain 5th and 6th respectively, with Issy Atkins claiming 1st. Hannah Keating came 1st in the U16 girls.
Fantastic effort and very well done to every single Slipstreamer who took part in horrible conditions. Results as follows:
