The fourth and final training workshop in this Spring series was delivered on Monday evening. We were very pleased to welcome Mark Doel, from British Cycling, who kindly came along to pass on his advice for Race Preparation. Thank you Mark!
Good race preparation can help to remove the stresses and strains from your pre-competition anxiety. By knowing that you have rehearsed and planned your preparation takes away a number of things to worry about. One of the biggest gains to be made in this area is packing your kit bag – knowing that you have packed everything and just where something can be located removes that panic feeling when something is thought to be lost or forgotten!
The session can be summarised in the following video:
In addition to the video above, Mark provided the following links for you to absorb at your leisure:
- How to pack your kit bag for a race – Racesmart
- What to include in your sportive kit bag
- Essential kit to carry on the bike
- Cycling clothing guide
After the classroom session, Ralph then went on to lead the “Kitchen Sink” workout.
This is a Prime Coaching session that Ralph adapted for a shorter youth session. A lot of you found this hard, however, riders noted that there was adequate recovery between intervals which meant they could repeat them – even though they may have been challenging!
We hope everyone who has attended these sessions have found something to take away and practice or look into a little more deeper. Do send us your feedback and reviews – we’d love to know your thoughts! We have enjoyed them, and plan to carry on these sessions next winter.
