Who has ever missed a training session because they have struggled to find the motivation? Who has gone out on their bike & not known why they are riding the bike or what the riding they are doing is looking to achieve? Who has ambitions to be the best but does not really know how to or even believe that they can get there?
Do you know your “Three P’s” when it comes to goal setting? No? If we say “Product. Performance. Process” do you still not know what we’re talking about? Well then, you missed out, because at our recent Monday night training workshop on the 9th March, the second in a series of 4 training workshops, in preparation of the upcoming Spring/ Summer race calendar, all the answers were revealed.
We covered how different types of goals can help to provide the signposts along your cycling journey to get you to your desired destination. We looked at why goal setting is important, and why process and performance goals are complimentary to product goals. We also discussed how goals aid motivation, and allow you to regularly check that you are still on the path you wish to follow. We had some excellent discussions and we left the classroom feeling that everyone had a more clear insight of how to look at where their internal Sat-Nav was leading them!
Afterwards, we moved on to the turbos for participation in Group 2’s “Time Trial” workout.
This took the form of a pyramid session that took riders from below, to just on, and up to above their lactate threshold.
Watch them in action:
Another good, well thought out session indeed.
Next week, Monday 16th March, we look at the role food and drink plays in performance. There are still places left for those over 10 years old – let sign-on know if you wish to attend.
And finally, if you would like to view the classroom session slides, these are provided here for reference.
