As part of the British Cycling Central Region Holiday Programme, Mac and Josie hosted a 1-day coaching session for MTB beginners/ improvers at Hervines Park in Amersham. This was supported by the usual pool of highly qualified BC coaches including our very own MTB Coach Zoe Allsop, as well as a number of BC Young Volunteers, helping the young riders getting to grips with the basics and improve their overall mountain biking skills.

The session was attended by 5 Slipstreamers, including Lucy Allsop, James Brown, Jed Smithson, Maddie & Ollie Emment, who were also supported by Young Volunteer (and regular “Mudslinger”) Seth.

Ollie Emment said of his experience:

“I went mountain biking at Amersham with my friends Jed, James and my sister Maddie. Seth was our volunteer helper and he gave us tips.

Me, Lucy and James got lost because we didn’t follow Seth as we were in front of the group and went our own way! I had the most fun skidding with Jed, and I won the limbo challenge.”

Maddie Emment tell us:

“I thought it was fun, but it was a bit of a challenge. You had to go into the woods, and there were some big drops. Me and Lucy got dropped off with the boys, but she looked after me which was nice.

It was raining but I still had fun. I learnt how to go over ramps. I can’t wait for the next time.”
