Almost there…
Before the race started I did a quick circuit round the course but I got lost as the signs were quite complicated, but I just got back in time for the race. I was racing in the U11 category. Luckily, I got a place in the front row for the start and I got a reasonable start but I could have done better. I came out of the first corner in about 5th place I got stuck behind someone but when the opportunity came as the course widened, I overtook the rider.
In the path of working my way forward I encountered a problem that I had to push my bike but I quickly swept round manoeuvering my way out of the way of one of the riders who had crashed on a downhill section. Slowly working my way forwards overtaking more people I eventually grabbed 2nd place beating another Slipstreamer to secure second place.
At first they didn’t announce my name so I was really worried but once we went to the lap count van we found out that they had wrongly put me in the under 13 category and thankfully they quickly corrected the results.
Cameron came 2nd in his age category – well done!
